Position Management with Mark to Market Minnesota West Ag Services utilizes a proprietary Position Management program to track your market position. MWAS has the most comprehensive all inclusive system that helps producers understand what their market position is and the impact of their decisions. MWAS uses your estimated production costs, your expected bushels produced, along with your market position to provide a snap shot look at your potential profitability with all un-priced or minimum priced production "Marked to Market" - the current price or a specific price. The Position Summary section provides detail about your production and marketing position in total bushels, bushels per acre, % of production or insured and also expected revenue. The graphs provide a visualization to show your costs, goal and revenue on a per acre basis and for the crop enterprise.
The Cash Strategies section tracks all physical sales which include cash, forward, hedge to arrive, basis or other sales. Producers are able to see exactly what the total cash sales are and which positions need additional attention. The Put Option Protection section provides producers with an easily understandable summary of the impact that the put options have on the estimated cash price floor that the option position provides and the revenue impact. Similar sections are used for futures hedges and re-ownership using call options or futures. Additional sections are used for grain for feed, value added deliveries, government payments and crop insurance indemnities.
Delivery and Revenue Schedules are automatically generated from information provided in the cash strategies section.
The Estimated Market Position graph is one of the most comprehensive ways to see how a change in price impacts your estimated profitability. Using your costs and marketing position the graph provides a look at your current position as compared to staying 100% open. It also shows what your profit goal is along with your crop insurance revenue floor.
